Reducing downstream plastics

We’d like to share a little more about our story.

A few of our staff are keen beach-goers, and it started to come to their attention when they went for their walks that the local waves were overflowing with single-use plastics and discarded fishing nets. These small moments, culminating in chat over morning coffee, served as the catalyst for our company to review how we package and send our items.

We wanted to do our part.

Since 2015, we have implemented a range of processes to try and reduce our plastic footprint.

Most retailers send individually wrapped bed linen sets wrapped in plastic slips. We know that when you receive your linen, they will be coming out of the plastic bag and going straight into the wash. We saw this as an opportunity to take responsibility for the downstream waste we were creating.

We made the decision not to package our items in single-use plastic that has no future use or value in our ecosystem. In our first year of this policy, we directly recycled 80 cubic metres of plastic from one site alone.

We know this means that sometimes your sheets and towels might arrive looking a little lack-lustre. However, we believe, after its initial wash, it won’t make a difference to you; but it will make a difference to our oceans.
